Weekend Update!

30 Jul

Happy Monday, lovely readers!  MargitMae is back after a short hiatus!

I have some great things in store for you this week – a new product review, a fantastic Pretty Lady, and some exciting news!  But now, it’s time to recap the weekend.

I spent Friday evening at a Twins game with my awesome father and Evan.  The Twins crushed the Cleveland Indians.  Did I mention that we had amazing seats?

Well, hello there, Josh Willingham.

Evan and I also ate copious amounts of seafood.  Oyster Bloody Mary shooters at Meritage, seafood carbonara at the Happy Gnome … it was a delicious weekend.

So what awesome things did you eat and see this weekend?

Happy Monday, beauties!

What awesome activities made up your weekend?   I was lucky enough to have a long weekend that started in a cabin in Wisconsin.  Swimming, hot tub-ing, sailing, and eating made up the bulk of my too-short cabin stay.

The remainder of the weekend was spent at River’s Edge Music Festival.  Evan and I were excited to bask in the sun and see acts like Tool and the Flaming Lips.

From the Flaming Lips set.

One of the most magical moments of the festival was when dozens of large, brightly colored balloons were released into the sky during the Flaming Lips set.  The balloons were accompanied by a flurry of multi- colored confetti.  The array of beautiful colors across the bright blue sky put a huge smile on my face for the rest of the day.

I told you I smiled for the rest of the day.

I absolutely needed a relaxing and joyful weekend and am so glad I was able to spend it surrounded by great people, great weather, and great music.

What made you smile this weekend?

Happy Monday, beauties!  How was your weekend?

Mine was quite lovely.  I went to a friend’s housewarming party, saw my lovely friend Bully Jean and the Minnesota RollerGirls kick some tail, and went to the driving range with my pops for Father’s Day.  My weekend might have been a bit too jam packed as I came down with some sort of cold.  No fun!

The RollerGirls in action!

I also started my two week trial of the oil cleansing method — I’ll post an update after two weeks to let you know if my face is radiant and glowing or if it looks like a giant grease slick.

I had to sneak in some cuddle time with my new guy as well.  Cuddly cats sure make me feel better when I have a cold.

Happy Monday, lovely people!

MargitMae is back after a short hiatus caused by oh-so-exciting medical issues.  Did you all have a lovely weekend?  I sure did.

This weekend I went to the Minnesota RollerGirls Fan Loyalty Party.  As I attended all bouts this year, I was invited to this super fun party hosted at Surly Brewery.  The party included a tour of the brewery where I learned about how Surly came to be as well as about the brewing process.  I also got to drink plenty of free, tasty beer.  In addition, I received a gift bag which included some homemade soap – I’m excited to try it out and give you guys the scoop!

One of the highlights of the evening was spending some time with my friend, RollerGirl Bully Jean.  We may, however, have had a slight miscommunication about the tone of the above photo.

In addition to the party, Evan and I visited Feline Rescue, Inc. and played with some lovely kitties.  I may or may not have filled out adoption papers for another furry feline friend.  Keep your eyes open for a post with an update on the “To Kitty or Not To Kitty” saga.

Happy Monday, readers!

This weekend update will be rather brief as I’m currently dealing with medical issues that will most likely require surgery later this week; please forgive me if posts aren’t as consistent as usual.

The majority of the weekend was spent at home trying to make myself comfortable before the surgery.  The perk of the weekend was taking care of my friend’s cats, Ophelia and Nemo.

Ophelia, the sassy kitten.

Nemo, the snuggly kitten.

We also had quite the storm with large hail.  Here’s a photo of the view from our apartment, as well as my discovery that Evan’s drink matched my shirt.

It’s a match!

Hail storm!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, and I’ll see you after my operation!

Happy Monday, pretties!

Did you have an amazing weekend?  I unfortunately was having some medical problems and spent most of the weekend in the ER or at home sick, but I did manage to hoist myself into the stands for a Twins game.

I also was able to make it to my mom’s birthday/Mother’s Day dinner.

Hi, Mom!

What did you do for Mother’s Day?

Happy Monday, lovely readers!

Did you have lovely and amazing weekends?  The weekend here in the Twin Cities was filled with rain, thunder, and lightning.  My plans included a weekend of camping with friends but, as I will still sick, I opted to stay home and warm out of the rain.  Evan still went out to meet our friends and camp so I had the entire apartment to myself.

Well, I had the apartment almost to myself.

I spent the weekend cleaning, cooking, watching copious episodes of Mad Men, and trying to calm the cat down.  See, when Evan leaves for a few days, Jolene spends her time either a) moping about and sleeping or b) trying to destroy the apartment in an act that seems to say “I will tear this whole place down if dad doesn’t come home!”.

When not dealing with the crazy cat, I spent some time making my new favorite meal.  It’s super easy to make.  I just stir fry some veggies in coconut oil, add sriracha and garlic, and splash a bit of apple cider vinegar in at the end.  Easy-peasy and super tasty.

A low key weekend was just what I needed to kick this cold to the curb.

What yummy food did you eat over the weekend?

Happy Monday, lovely readers!

I had quite the low key weekend which was exactly what I needed.  I started the weekend out right with a BBQ at a coworker’s house where I met this little beauty.

Henrietta the cat!

The rest of the weekend ended up being less than amazing as I seem to have developed quite the cold.  I did have tickets, however, to a Twins game.  And who lets a cold get in the way of a Twins game?!   I love everything about Twins games – the sounds, the food, the drinks, the entire atmosphere – and the fact that they won didn’t hurt either!

Target Field!

The game was great but the stands were quite windy and chilly which probably didn’t help my cold.

So, dear readers, what helps you get over a cold? Any tips or tricks?

Happy Monday, dear readers!

What were you all up to this weekend?  I had a lovely weekend spent buzzing about town with a friend, Joe, who was visiting from Bemidji.  We ate lots of tasty food and attended the latest Gastro Non Grata.  Gastro Non Grata combines food, drink, and music – what’s not to love?  This edition of the event featured music from the Cactus Blossoms.  I’ve had this song stuck in my head since I saw them play.

We also made a run to the ever-popular Ikea.  Evan and I snagged some great stuff for our place including a bookshelf, a rug, and some new bedding (okay, and a few other things I snuck into the cart when Evan wasn’t looking, like tiny little jars for spices and a cute new thermos).  Jolene the cat was very excited about our new purchases and seemed to really enjoy our new duvet cover.

This duvet cover is for me, right?

Sunday was spent indulging in brunch, doing chores, and lounging about.  Lounging about of course included trying out some amazing new products that I can’t wait to tell you about in the near future.

Happy Monday, dear readers!

What amazing things did you do this weekend?  I had a nice, relaxing weekend spent hopping around the neighborhood.

I tried mussels for the first time at the Happy Gnome!  The mussels were served in a broth made of white wine, chorizo, and crème fraîche.  They were absolutely delicious and served with crusty bread to mop up the broth.

In not-so-fun news, I dropped one of my favorite products, RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek on my bathroom floor.  The only downside of this product is that it’s metal lid magnetized itself to the magnet that is in my powder compact.  Hold the powder/Lip2Cheek combo in your hand, twirl around to see what the cat is doing and … bang!  Your Lip2Cheek will launch itself across your bathroom, shatter into a million itsy bitsy pieces of glass, and leave you trying to block your cat from getting into the bathroom like a football player.

To be fair, this crash was the only downside of this product. I adore it, and will give you a full review on Wednesday.  Stay tuned for that!

So, dear readers, what did YOU do this weekend that was new and wonderful?
